The Beginner course runs over eight classes. Each class has a page here. The page tells you what a learner is able to do by the end of it.

These pages list outcomes and how we teach. They do not carry the course itself. The lessons, exercises and answers stay in the classroom and in the book.

Read code you did not write, ask AI to
change it, and test the change on real hardware.

Building With Blocks
Make a program by dragging blocks, then
use it to switch a real light on and off.

Speak, See, Create
Speak instead of typing, make pictures
from words, and ask a machine what is in a photograph.
Chapter 8
Describe It, Build It, Own It
Describe the software you want in plain
words, build it, and be able to explain every part of it.
How we teach
- One core concept per class. Eight classes, eight ideas. Nothing is covered twice and nothing is rushed.
- Hands on before theory. You type a prompt in the first hour, before anyone explains what a prompt is. The explanation lands better afterwards.
- Practice in company. Weekend classes are followed by weekday practice slots in the lab, with someone there to help.
- Mixed ages at one table. The youngest in a batch may be ten and the oldest past fifty. Each takes something from the other.
- Careful use throughout. Knowing when not to trust an answer runs through all eight classes rather than sitting in one.
